The SureWind is a hefty solid machine. It weighs about 800
lbs. It rolls on wheels into place (a level one), it needs minimally
15 amps, 110 volts.
With its inflatable safety air bag surrounding it, it is very
attractive for dealer promotions in malls,
shopping centers, beaches, etc.
It allows for major advertising (sponsors) space, 20 feet by
20 feet should be sufficient floor space, with about 10 feet height.
The choices on the keypad are these:
WEIGHT OF PARTICIPANT
STABILITY OF BOARD
WIND FORCE
WIND GUSTS
WAVE ACTION
(All are identified with symbols)
So, a beginner lesson, in a controlled environment can start
with a firm (large, stable board) and 3 knots of wind with a 6
meter (simulated) sail. No gusts, no waves.
From hereon in the sky is the limit. The
communication of the instructor with the beginner will be of major
importance for the first positive on water big board
experience. By programming a smaller board, more wind, gusts,
waves, etc. the
individual will learn just about everything about stance and position.
The boom height is adjustable for each participant.
Eventually: water starts and harness. THESE ARE EXPERT TECHNIQUES
AND ARE ONLY TO BE TAUGHT BY QUALIFIED INSTRUCTORS.
Training and exercising on a SureWind is a must when
leaving colder climates to go South for a windsurfing vacation.
SCORING: When we reprogrammed the software to C ++ we incorporated
a scoring system. A highly visual LED has bystanders see the
progression of that score and they can encourage their favorite
competitor! Lots of fun.
